Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Proverbs 14 :1

Let me start by saying that when you find a wife two things follow you: Goodness and Favour. You must pray before you get a wife because some women do not carry goodness and Favour but “bad luck and curse”. You must understand the word “wife”. A woman is not a wife but a woman can be a wife so also all men are not husbands but a man can be a husband.

Who is a WIFE?

a)    WISE – Proverbs 4:7

When a man wants to get married, he goes after the woman but after marriage, the woman goes after her husband. If you don’t understand that principle, you will lose your home. When your husband was chasing you, he dressed very nice now that you are chasing after him, dress very nice not just seating down at home looking like XXXX. Before marriage, while he was chasing you, you dressed well now after marriage you are looking like an image. If you don’t chase him other women will chase him. Look good for him, you are complaining and asking your husband when last you kissed? Have you checked your mouth odor? Brush your teeth and tongue and note that not all makeup fits you, discover the one that fits you. Some women look like masquerades after wearing make-up. You must have night wears because strange women that are chasing your husband have night wears. Stop wearing wrapper like native doctors seating in the parlor. Your night wears must be three in one that is room, parlor, and bedroom. When you are in the parlor you wear the coat, when in the other room, you remove the coat and when you enter the holy of holies you remove the two and leave the two and leave the one that looks like a mirror.

You also need the wisdom to love your in-laws. Love your in-laws not because they are good but because it is wisdom. If you don’t love your in-laws the honey on the moon will dry up in time.

b)   INDUSTRIOUS – Proverbs 31:10 - 15

A good woman must do something that will bring money so that she can also contribute her quarter in the home. A wife must not be lazy. He won’t value you even though he loves you, your love will not have value. You may wear the dresses he bought for you but the one he didn’t buy seduces him more. If you depend on him for everything you will lose your respect. Be industrious. Be part of the welfare of the children & any other needs in the home.

c)    FEAR OF GOD – Proverbs 31:30

Any woman that has no fear of God will do terrible things. The fear of God will make you not visit your former boyfriend. The fear of God will make you submit to your husband willingly. No man wants to have a wife he cannot control. Any day you start disrespecting your husband you start losing him. Some women complain that their husbands love their mothers more than them. The reasons are; despite all their mother did for them, she still respects them. Why will your husband respect you when you keep reminding him of what you did for him.

d)   ENDURANCE & ENCOURAGEMENT – 2 Corinthians 1:3-8

A wife must have the capacity to endure and keep secrets. A good wife will not always inform family and friends when things are tough with them. Stop judging your husbands to friends. You must endure pains (bible ref: James 1:2-3, Romans 15:5).

Who is a HUSBAND?

a)    HONOUR – Hebrews 13:4

A husband is a man that honors his wife, no man should bring down his wife before people. Some men have no honor for their wives at all, they can even bring strange women to their house, date other girls around them, no single honor. Men are so quick to read Ephesians 5:22 (Wives, submit…) and ignore Ephesians 5:21 (Submitting yourselves one to another…).

b)   UNITY - Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31

A husband must be united to his wife. The day you get married is no longer “I” but “we” it is we, not I. Our house, car, money, stop treating her as one of the properties you acquired. Stop reminding her you paid her bride price. In fact how much did you pay? Do you think it was the gift or cash you paid to her parent that made her drop her father’s name for yours?

c)    SINCERITY

Husband is a man who is sincere with his wife. Some men are very insincere they can even put their phone under a pillow. Some men save some girls' numbers as “Uber driver”, even as “my pastor” or “my worst enemies”.

d)   BREADWINNER – I Timothy 5:8

Provide for your household, don’t leave your children’s upkeep to the government.

e)    APPRECIATION – Proverbs 5:18

A husband is a man that appreciates his wife (…rejoice with the wife of your youth). Appreciate her when she cooks good and bad, appreciate her before rebuking her.

f)     NEATNESS

Ensure you are neat all the time, have your bath very well and ensure you brush your teeth too.

g)   DIRECTOR OF YOUR FAMILY – Genesis 18:18-19

It’s your paramount responsibility as the husband to direct your family on the right path to God’s glory.
